Exposition of gems

The exhibition is the result of the research carried out by Montse Bagué and Josep M. Serrano on the gemmological material of the Iberian Peninsula. The results of the search, identification and processing of 132 materials are presented.

Geology Museum of Barcelona.

In the exhibition you can see the 132 raw materials, nearly 500 carvings and 16 jewels.

The pieces are displayed in eight tables and are classified according to mineralogical criteria: Silicates, Oxides, Phosphates…

Gem tables

Each of the materials is in a panel, where there is a description, a sample of the raw material, various pieces of the worked material and in some cases a gem. So you can clearly see the whole process.
