About me

¡Hello and wellcome!
My name is Montse Bagué. Artisan jeweler, lapidary and gem expert.
Passionate about minerals and trained in jewellery at the Massana School in Barcelona, I currently cut gemstones in cabochon, faceted, and “carving” or sculpted styles. This passion led me, together with Josep M. Serrano, to discover the art of stone cutting or lapidary and to take our first steps at Robert Celades’ cutting club in Barcelona. From there, we became interested in the gem-quality materials closest to us and carried out a study on the gemstones of the Iberian Peninsula, a project that took several years and culminated in the exhibition Gemstones of the Iberian Peninsula, the Great Unknowns at the Natural Science Museum of Barcelona.
From the very beginning, we decided to work exclusively with natural, untreated gemstones, placing great importance on the origin of the rough material. We do not cut naturally well-crystallised minerals, which we believe cannot be improved, but instead work with broken crystals, poorly formed ones, or massive material. In faceted cutting, we apply knowledge of optics and crystallography to achieve the best angles and proportions for each type of stone, and we have developed new cuts adapted to their unique characteristics.

LCabochons offer us more creative freedom: while continuing to produce classic cuts, we also create “carving”, concave faces, and freeform designs. We value inclusions and natural features, and in some cases we combine natural surfaces with polished ones to enhance the original beauty of the gemstone.
On our website, you will find a wide variety of gemstones cut by us and material with special value. At Gemmesterra we do not work with dyed, irradiated, impregnated, or otherwise treated stones.
If you need lapidary tools and machinery, we also supply all kinds of diamond tools and specialised equipment. You can visit our tool sales page.totdiamant.com
