Apatite
The name ('Apatit') was invented by A.G Werner in the mid 1780's, he later described the name after the Greek verb aπasάω (apatáō) meaning 'deceive' (someone) or 'be deceitful', because as he wrote 'until now has confused/misled all mineralogists in its identification' (Roycroft & Cuypers, 2015)
Brazil, Canada, India, Madagascar and Mexico are the world's leading producers of apatite and Spain is known for asparagus-colored ones, while Maine in the US is the source of lilac-colored apatites.
